The system behind the rose – how PharmaRosa® works
If origin, varietal authenticity and predictable quality matter to you, it is worth seeing the background system as well. On this page, from the history of the nursery to today’s operation, we show how potted quality has become own-root, fully traceable production: identification, plot management, plant passport and quality assurance.

From research mindset to horticultural foundations
The roots of our nursery go back to 1960: the business was established by Dr István Túri, pepper breeder, and his wife. From the very beginning, a strong research and breeding mindset has defined how we work. Introducing new varieties and varietal types into production, and implementing new cultivation technologies, created a culture of continuous development which still underpins PharmaRosa® today.
The direction of rose production and potted quality
From the early 1970s the family started to specialise in rose growing. Drawing on extensive experience of traditional bare-root production, we gradually developed the practice of potted rose cultivation over many years of work. Its greatest strengths became the consistently high rooting success and strict maintenance of varietal authenticity.
Becoming a business – continuity as a family company
After 1992, the nursery evolved into a full business, and from the late 1990s the dedicated work based on potted rose production laid the foundations for the current success of PharmaRosa® Ltd. Since the founders passed away, the company has continued under family management: versatility, a development-focused mindset and professional discipline are still at the heart of our decisions.
The turning point: adaptation and a solution unique in Europe
The economic and labour market changes after 2018 created a completely new situation. Our response was not “survival measures” but a new, stable cultivation and sales model: uniquely in Europe, we developed the propagation and cultivation of own-root roses across our entire range.
Today, our production includes more than 1,500 varieties, and behind this range there is not a random stock, but a centrally directed, unified system.

How the PharmaRosa® system works today
The essence of how we work today is: transparent origin, traceable process, uniform professional standards. Our aim is that, regardless of variety or packaging, every rose consistently delivers the level of quality its name promises.
Controlled foundation: uniform propagation material
Every process starts with the PharmaRosa® NEONATAL® rooted cutting, which is the basis of propagation. This ensures that varietal purity and consistent quality are not just “hopes” but principles that define the whole system.
Plot-based cultivation: batch-identified, traceable pathway
Cultivation takes place on designated, identified plots. The roses are handled in batches, which means that their journey from the plot to the packaging stage is fully traceable. This is not only about organisation – it also provides real security: if any discrepancy occurs, we can act quickly and in a targeted way.
Plant passport and transparent origin
Roses dispatched in packaging are issued with a plant passport (Plant Passport). This way you receive not only a beautiful plant, but also the reassurance of a clearly traceable origin and compliance background.
Two sales channels – one principle: clarity
Within our system there are two forms of sales:
• Mediated sales, where the seller is the agricultural primary producer (this is clearly shown on the product page).
• Direct sales, where the seller is PharmaRosa® Ltd.
The common factor in both cases is transparency: you clearly see all key information that affects your decision.
Quality assurance: discipline, verifiability, fast intervention
For us, quality is not just a final inspection step; it is built into everyday work:
• batch identification and traceability,
• controlled plant protection practices,
• stock and plot management that fully meets official inspection requirements,
• blocking system: in the event of any discrepancy we take immediate action to protect quality.

What does this mean for you as a customer?
PharmaRosa® is unique in the way it puts a full system behind every rose: a consistent propagation base, identifiable cultivation, documented origin and unified professional responsibility. This is how we can maintain an operation where, even with a wide range, quality, varietal authenticity and transparency are not promises but everyday practice.
A rose is a living plant – with natural variability. Our work focuses on the factors that can be controlled: origin, varietal authenticity, disciplined cultivation, traceability, packaging and information – so that for every order these are delivered to the same high standard.
